Knowledge, Perspectives, and Priorities Regarding Self-Care Activities: A Population-Based Qualitative Study among Iranian Adolescents

This qualitative study aimed to investigate knowledge, perspectives, and priorities related self-care among Iranian adolescents. Through snowball sampling, the link questionnaire was shared in available social media apps. The results showed that 192 of 294 participants reported they had heard about “self-care”. Parents/family school were most frequent sources learning male female respondents, respectively. Analyzing participants’ statements regarding their own understanding activities, three major terms—“taking care of”, “avoid”, “respect” identified. When being ask what do for self-care, spending time on Internet highest repetition rate boys’ responses, followed by “going gym”, “video games”, “listening music”. Regarding desired both girls’ indicated leisure “traveling” word, with friends. girls more interest attending night clubs or outside home late at night. Insights from this identifying preferences activities can be used develop intervention programs adolescents improve lifestyle and, consequently, well-being based needs situation.
